Nintendo Wii or PlayStation 3?

If you're an avid fan of game consoles, you already know two of the hottest consoles in town. Nintendo Wii and PlayStation 3 are very popular; the former is obviously created by Nintendo and the latter is created by Sony Corporation.

Both the products offer gamers optimized sounds and graphics. Some people even say that there is hardly a difference between Nintendo Wii and PS3.

Let's start with Nintendo Wii. Wii is usually available in a white thin box and the basic package roughly costs $250. A wireless remote called Wii remote is provided and it makes use of accelerometers which is able to sense movements of the players. Wii can't play CDs or DVDs. If you want high-definition videos, don't expect it from Wii however, it does have a wireless WiFi that can connect to the portable game systems of Nintendo. Most of the games played on Wii are kids games but you can also find adult games. Just recently, Wii Fit was introduced. Wii Fit games can be used by those individuals who find traditional exercises boring and tedious.

The PlayStation on the other hand is a black bulky box that roughly costs more or less $500. It has a hard drive, optical drive (Blu-ray), wireless controllers (Bluetooth), high-definition video, and wireless WiFi networking port. PS3 has a memory card that can read SD cards and Compact Flash. You can even use the PS3 as a personal computer if you have a mouse and USB keyboard.

If you try to look at the different features of Wii and PlayStation 3, the latter has the best features. However, according to reports on sales, Wii has achieved higher sales. In fact, the combined sales of PS3 and of another competitor, Xbox 360, is not even close to Wii. Despite PS3's better graphics and overall media, Wii remains the hottest among all game consoles. Perhaps its because of its limited production and supply on the market. Since PS3 is more expensive, a lot of gamers prefer to get the basic Wii package which is less costly. They will be able to play the Wii Sports that is included in the package and later on, they can simply buy new games and accessories.
